Storefront improvement grant program
Purpose: The storefront, which is a business’s first point of contact with the public, defines the business’s image and is a key place for promoting the business through clean, interesting displays. The Egleston Square Main Street Storefront Improvement Program promotes quality storefront design by providing small businesses with professional architectural advice and matching grants. All Storefront Improvement Projects must be approved by the Egleston Square Main Street Design Committee and must follow the design guidelines as set forth by Boston Main Streets in the “Commercial District Design Guidelines” booklet.

Design Assistance: When Design Assistance is requested, an architect will have an on-site meeting with the business owner, produce a schematic design proposal and provide a description of the proposed work which the business may use to hire a contractor and complete the project. Design assistance is also available for small-scale storefront improvements such as signs, lights and awnings. There is no cost to the businesses for these services.

Matching Grants: The matching grants Egleston Square Main Street provides for storefront improvement projects help businesses defer the cost of improvements. All grants are a one to one public/private match and are made on a reimbursement basis. The total cost of the project will be reimbursed up to $2000. We hope you take advantage of this free assistance! To apply, please call 617-522-7752.
